Join us in celebrating pollinators! Monday, June 17 marks the beginning of Pollinator Week, a national celebration of the amazing invertebrates that are vital to the health of ecosystems and agriculture. It’s a perfect time to celebrate the birds, bugs and lizards that are so essential to the crops we grow, the flowers we smell, and the plants that produce the air we breathe.
But the best part of sharing your plants and flowers are when welcome visitors such as this lovely butterfly pay us a visit for a sip of nature’s nectar in its purest form. Putting on a dazzling display of aeronautics they dart to and fro choosing what color tickles their fancy. The numbers of these pollinators are being reduced in alarming rates by habitat loss, through urbanization and the overuse of pesticides.
